Goalpara dist bags top spot in 3rd phase of Gunotsav

GOALPARA, March 3 - The district of Goalpara bagged the overall top position in the 3rd phase of Gunotsav which was held in 13 districts recently with a four-day programme where assessments by external evaluator was carried out to assess the performance of the schools as well as their students from LP and ME sections, i.e., from Class II to Class VIII.

Talking to this correspondent, Additional Deputy Commissioner Omar Sharif informed that a total of 776 external evaluators, with each evaluator assigned three schools were engaged to assess the performance of 1769 schools across the district where assessment was done as per guidelines on the basis of academic achievements and co- scholastic achievements of students, availability and utilization of school infrastructure and other facilities and community participation.

He also said that a total of 526 schools bagged A+, 737 schools A, 385 schools B, 104 schools C and only 17 schools bagged D grade.

Sharif said that the grading was done by the State government Sarva Siksha Abhijan (SSA) and reports were compiled on the basis of the assessment done by the external evaluator.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner also expressed his happiness and congratulated his subordinates and staff members of the schools for their continued dedication, support and enthusiasm for making the event a success and thanked all for such an accomplishment that too in a backward district like Goalpara.

He also praised the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Dass for his able leadership in taking a number of initiatives like the installation of biometric attendance system, starting kitchen gardens in schools and separate dining halls etc.

The Deputy Commissioner also congratulated all the officials related to Gunotsav for their commendable performances.
