Goalpara Civil Hospital, Ledo MPHC receive nat�l certification

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - In a major achievement for the National Health Mission, Assam, Goalpara Civil Hospital and Ledo Primary Health Centre Tinsukia have been conferred with �Quality Certified� under NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) recently. This was stated in a press release received here recently.

Goalpara Civil Hospital is the first civil hospital in Assam to be awarded this prestigious recognition. The health facility scored 85% for ten departments having met all the criteria and benchmarks required for National Quality Assurance.

The ten departments are � Laboratory, Labour room, Maternity Ward, Operation Theatre, Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), Post Partum Unit (PP Unit), Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) and General Administration.

Similarly, Ledo MPHC is the first Primary Health Centre in Assam to be NQAS certified. It has scored 91.6%.

The Goalpara Civil Hospital team was led by Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner, Goalpara District, Dr Nil Madhab Das, Joint Director of Health Services and Dr Shyamalendu Das, Superintendent, Goalpara CH.

On the other hand, the Ledo PHC team was led by Oinam Saran Kumar Singh, DC, Tinsukia district, Dr Altaf Ahmed, Joint Director of Health Services and Dr Pulak Paul, Medical Officer in-charge.

The State team under the stewardship of Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Wefare, Government of Assam, JVN Subramanyam, MD, NHM, Assam, Dr AC Baishya, Executive Director, NHM, Assam and quality team comprising Dr Khalekuz Zaman, Consultant, Maternal Health, Dr Dipangkar Hazarika, Consultant, Child Health, Dr Rohini Kumar, Consultant, Quality Assurance and Kakoli Deka, Programme Executive, Quality Assaurance have paved the way for beginning of a quality journey in public health care facilities in the State, the release added.

It is mentionable here that four district hospitals namely Goalpara Civil Hospital, Haflong Civil Hospital, Darrang Civil Hospital and Nalbari Civil Hospital have also been conferred �LaQshya� certification and 18 facilities got certified by State Quality Assurance Committee (SQAC). �LaQshya� is focused and targeted approach for improving intra-partum and immediate post partum care during delivery. It targets to strengthen key processes related to Labour Room and Maternity OT. Goalpara Civil Hospital (94% score in Labour room) and Haflong Civil Hospital (93% score in Labour room) have received Platinum certificate from National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
