GUWAHATI, Dec 7 � Goa took complete control scoring 190 for the loss of two wickets in reply to Assam�s first innings total of 247.
On the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Group C encounter at the Barsapara stadium here today, Assam resuming their first innings at the overnight total of 236 for eight, could add just 11 runs. Syed Mohammad, unbeaten on 90 yesterday, completed his century and remained unbeaten on 101. The remaining Assam batsmen, Sujay Tarafdar and Arup Das could not provide him support at the end as Goa medium pacer Harshad Hanumant Gadekar completed his five-wicket haul dismissing Sujay Tarafdar. Shadab Jakati took the other wicket of Arup to snub off the Assam tail.
Goa made a terrific start adding 136 runs for the opening wicket partnership between Amogh Sunil Desai (97) and Swapnil Asnodkar (57). Amogh was unlucky to miss his century by just three runs. He faced 202 balls and hit 11 boundaries and two sixers before being bowled by Arup Das. Swapnil�s 170-ball knock was studded with seven fours.
Assam bowlers today were in poor shape as the Goan batsmen were in dominating mood from the very beginning. At the initial stage, Assam medium pacers hardly could take any advantage out of the wicket as the Goans did.
