HAILAKANDI, May 24 - Eight youths from Hailakandi stuck in Goa due to the lockdown have got ration from the North Goa administration following a plea by Hailakandi officials.
The youths from Sudarshanpur Part II were working in a hotel in Goa. Their employer did not pay them after the hotel was shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Finding no other option, the youths appealed to the Hailakandi administration to bail them out. One of them approached a mediaperson, who apprised the District Information and Public Relations Officer, and requested him to inform Deputy Commissioner MN Dahal.
Dahal took up the initiative to enrol their names under the Assam CARES initiative, and transfer of Rs 2,000 each into their bank accounts for the next three months. North Goa District Collector R Menaka later provide ration and essential items to the youths stuck at Simvaddo, Anjuna Survey No.11.
