GUWAHATI, Feb 18 - Super-specialty GNRC Hospital�s Sixmile centre today completed ten years of its functioning and to mark the occasion, four distinguished persons were honoured for their contributions in different spheres.
Those who were honoured included veteran journalist and former Asam Sahitya Sabha president Kanaksen Deka, anti-witch hunting crusader Birubala Rabha, Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune PJ Baruah and writer and Editor of Sadin Anuradha Sarma Pujari.
Addressing the function held on the occasion, GNRC chairman-cum-managing director Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah said that the hospital had come a long way in realizing its goal of providing quality healthcare to the people.
�We wanted to bring smiles on the faces of everyone, and I can say today that we have achieved that goal. We are also thankful to the people for reposing their trust in us, and also to all my co-workers and staff and the media. We take the pledge today to continue with our efforts to provide better healthcare to the masses,� he said.
Dr. Borah said that GNRC Sixmile had since its inception in 2007 treated over one million patients so far. The emergency section started in 2014 has attended to over 13,000 patients. He added that the hospital as part of its efforts to provide affordable healthcare to the masses had been providing various facilities like CT Scan, MRI, angiography, etc., at low rates.
Dr. Borah also underscored the importance of keeping diseases at bay by adopting a healthy lifestyle and food habits.
CEO of GNRC Sixmile Shatabdi Borah, in her speech, said that the hospital management was privileged to accord felicitation to the four distinguished personalities who had enriched the State�s social life with their contributions in their chosen fields.
The GNRC management also awarded four doctors with Rs 1 lakh each for their articles in international medical journals.
