SHILLONG, May 8 � An armed militant of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) was shot dead in the wee hours yesterday during an encounter with the security forces in a remote village in Meghalaya�s North Garo Hills district, police said.
Acting on a tip off, a joint operation by the State police and Army was launched on Wednesday evening in Chidaret area where the slain militant belonging to the dreaded GNLA was shot dead. � PTI
