SHILLONG, May 3 (PTI): Security has been beefed up in all major government installations in Meghalaya after intelligence inputs that separatist group Garo National Liberation Army may attack them.
Of a list of important government assets, the main Secretariat building here has been listed as a high risk government infrastructure that could face possible attacks from the outlawed militant organisation, officials said here today.
Intelligence inputs received by the police indicate that the main Secretariat is under threat from the GNLA who may carry out attacks, they said.
Security in the Secretariat has been tightened and entry of vehicles into the parking lot of the Secretariat will also be regulated by issuing of car passes to government officials, they said.
Government offices in the Garo Hills region where GNLA is active have also been warned of attacks from the outfit. The offices of the Deputy Commissioners of the three districts in the Garo Hills have been intimated of the threat inputs, the officials said.
