GUWAHATI, April 9 - With an objective to expedite the process of long-pending building permission applications within the municipal area of the city, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is launching a special drive on April 10 and 11 to help the applicants know the status of their application, as well as to guide them during the clearance process.
The Corporation has taken up this measure for the permission of �ground plus two� buildings after sorting out a number of applications with incomplete documentation or faulty maps. The special event would be held in GMC auditorium, Uzan Bazar.
�Nearly 300 applications are pending with us due to incomplete or faulty documentation. Additionally, more than 200 applications have been cleared and we have also issued the no-objection certificate (NOC). But, since the applicants have not received it from the GMC office, the Corporation is missing out on the revenue,� GMC sources said.
The NOCs might also be rejected, if applicants do not take it within a stipulated time.
The admissibility of the applications would be decided after the verification of the requisite documents, including the map and actual size of the project, location of the land, ownership rights and other necessary documents. The applicants would have to produce the original document for expediting the process.
�We are thinking about clearing the building permission immediately after Rongali Bihu. However, to get the benefit of this special drive, the applicants of the authorised technical persons would have to furnish the original documents,� the sources added.
Arrangements would also be done for a speedy site inspection of the proposed projects by the zonal engineers for the plots, where such inspection is still pending.
