GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today seized 19 illegal water pumps connected to GMC water supply line in Gandhibasti, Islampur and Lalmati areas of the city.
The pumps, used illegally by the people who have not taken GMC supply connection in these areas of the city, were seized by a GMC team early this morning.
�We have been receiving several complains of water theft from Gandhibasti and adjacent localities. Concerted drives would be carried out in different parts of the city to stop water theft. Other than inflicting fine, action would also be taken as per the GMC Act against the violators,� sources stated.
