GMC lists 18 areas for extensive fogging till May 3

GUWAHATI, April 24 - The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has listed 18 areas of the city for extensive fogging operation till May 3.

A source in the GMC said, �Two teams have been formed to carry out the fogging operation in different areas of the city. Team one, led by Bhaben Choudhury, will cover Jalukbari, Sixmile, Kahilipara, Boragaon, Sarumotoria, Bharalumukh, Uzan Bazar, South Sarania and Fatasil. Team two, led by Satya Narayan, will cover Garigaon, Beltola, Beltola Tiniali, Lokhra, Hengrabari, Athgaon, Rehabari, Fancy Bazar and Shantipur. The fogging operation will be continued till May 3.�

Altogether ten portable machines and two vehicle-mounted machines will be used in the fogging operation.

�The teams have been formed after the GMC received several complaints from residents about a rise in mosquito menace in different parts of the city. These two teams will mainly look into the complaints received by the GMC. They will also simultaneously cover the areas close to the place from where the complaints are received,� the source added.

Meanwhile, leader of Team one Bhaben Choudhury said extensive fogging operation has been going on since the day the nationwide lockdown was enforced.
