GUWAHATI, Jan 9 � Acting on specific information, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has initiated action against a number of traders for non-renewal of trade license.
The corporation also threatened to issue close down notice to anyone found flouting the norms.
According to a source in the GMC, a number of traders tend to overlook the laid down rules year after year and in spite of repeated request made to them the desired results could not be fetched.
�Action would be taken against them very soon,� the source in the GMC told this reporter.
Further, removal of unauthorised hoardings from various locations of the capital city is on and already a number of them have been dismantled.
�Unauthorised hoarding and banners have been a major source of headache for the corporation. The problem aggravates during festive and college admission seasons,� the source said.
GMC Commissioner Kavita Padmanabhan, when asked, said that although no specific drive is being carried out as such against non-renewal of GMC trade license. The Corporation is acting as per complaints and information available.
