Glowing tributes paid to Suchibrata Roychoudhury

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 - Tributes were paid to �Dinabandhavi� Suchibrata Roychoudhury at a function held under the auspices of the Ambikagiri Memorial Trust at old-age home Amar Ghar, Patharquary here on Friday.

The memorial function on the occasion of the seventh death anniversary of the eminent author, administrator and social worker was chaired by Biswa Dutta, president of the trust.

Manju Dutta Baruah, secretary of the trust, explained the purpose of the function and Jogabrata Dutta, working president, dwelt at length on the contributions of the Dinabandhavi.

Lakshminath Tamuli, retired bureaucrat and columnist, while addressing the function as chief guest, described Roychoudhury as a bold, efficient and honest officer who grew up under the guardianship of her father, the firebrand nationalist Ambikagiri Roychoudhury.

Senior journalist DN Chakravartty described Roychoudhury as a successful author who had left her mark in different areas of Assamese literature.

Nikhilesh Baruah and Snehalata Das, two well-known artistes, were felicitated on the occasion.

Anil Bhattacharya, Anindita Choudhury and Bhupen Nath presented Lokageet, while Snehamoye Das presented Kamrupi Lokageet. A book on the life of Roychoudhury was released by senior journalist Tultul Baruah.
