SILCHAR, Sept 7 - Banking on its research and innovation activities, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has fetched a global recognition as it got featured within 800-1000 ranked institutes in the World University Rankings 2021 listed on September 2 by the Times Higher Education (THE).
Sharing the achievement with The Assam Tribune, Prof Sivaji Bandyopadhyay, the director of the institute said, �it is a global recognition for NIT Silchar. We are also ranked at 19th spot among the 63 Indian institutes listed by the Times Higher Education. From a Regional Engineering College established here in 1967, the institute has made great strides. It was identified as the National Institute of Technology in 2002 and it became an institute of national importance in 2007.
This is a journey towards global acknowledgement. Due to the focus and relentless pursuit for research and innovation by the students and faculty members, the institute is reaping such rewards.�
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 includes more than 1500 universities across 93 countries and regions making it the largest and most diverse university rankings till date.
According to information published by the Times Higher Education on its website, this year�s ranking analysed more than 80 million citations across over 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22,000 scholars globally.
