Global Handwashing Day observed

DIBRUGARH, Oct 16 - Handwashing helps in mitigating morbidity and mortality among all sections of the society. Taking this as a catch phrase, the North East Society for the Promotion of Youth and Masses (NESPYM), a non-profit organisation yesterday organized the Global Handwashing Day in Dibrugarh as also in Tinsukia.

Global Handwashing Day observed on October 15 is a global advocacy day to raise awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap to prevent diseases and save lives. NESPYM organised the awareness and demonstration programme at the Borborooah Girls� School yesterday.

Around 300 students along with their teachers took part in the programme, where Madhumita Sonowal and Sapna Chetri, team members of NESPYM demonstrated the proper way of hand washing. Sagarjit Gogoi spoke about the importance of hand washing and proper sanitation practices as a key to better health, particularly among the children.

The Global Handwashing Day was also observed by NESPYM at Lower Primary School in Limbuguri tea estate in Guijan block of Tinsukia district.
