By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 29 - Under a new initiative Discovery of Assam, the State government is developing an information management application based on GIS web portal with a view to creating and disseminating information to attract entrepreneurs and investors to the State as a priority destination.

Information on tourism and culture-tradition would cater to the queries and a detailed map of the States tourist attractions would be available for national and international tourists.

Officials said the portal would help increase the efficiency in decision making with the help of accurate information. The policy maker or decision maker or anyone who matters may use the portal to visually understand, track and monitor details related to their status or achievement or progress of work pertaining to new business opportunities, potentials, public works, utility works, transportation, environmental, natural resources, asset management, planning and development, engineering works etc., on a real-time or off-line basis. In other words, the portal will allow monitoring of the contributions of various sectors and departments in the State to gauge exactly how well those are performing, they said.

Meanwhile, a discussion on the new initiative to be undertaken by State Innovation and Transformation Aayog, Assam (SITA) was held today with SITA Vice Chairman Dipok Kumar Barthakur in the chair in his office chamber at Janata Bhawan.
