Girls outshine boys in CBSE Class XII exams

GUWAHATI, May 23 � Girls outshone boys in the Class XII examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Guwahati zone, which includes the North East states and Sikkim.

CBSE Guwahati office sources revealed that the overall pass percentage in Guwahati zone was 70.91, which is 1.5 per cent higher than the percentage last year. The pass percentage of the girls was 72.90 per cent, while that of boys was 69.30 per cent.

Sources revealed that altogether 34585 students registered themselves in Guwahati zone, but 33620 appeared in the examination and the examination was held in 226 centres.

The pass percentage of the students of the Central schools was 93.37 per cent, that of Navodaya schools was 96.19 per cent and that of the private schools was 76.26 per cent. Sources said that students of some Government schools in the states of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim also appeared in the examination conducted by the CBSE and the pass percentage was 60.29. The students of 331 schools of Guwahati zone appeared in the examinations.
