By Correspondent

BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 23 - A teenager of Jamuani village of Bedeti under Behali police station in Biswanath district, who was allegedly sold to a rich family of Ganga near Itanagar, was rescued by one Chandan Saikia on Wednesday at Itanagar. Later, she was handed over to Itanagar police station.

According to information, the 14-year-old girl was taken there by a woman named Shanti on the pretext of providing her a job. Then she had left the girl in the house of that particular family.

However, the girl had managed to flee and arrived at Itanagar, where Saikia met her. People opined that the incident had again brought to light the ongoing trafficking of poverty-stricken girls from interior places of the district to the neighbouring State of Arunachal Pradesh.
