Girl rescued

GUWAHATI, Feb 25 - An 11-year-old girl from Jharkhand was rescued today from the house of one Imran Ali Khan of Sector 3 of the Guwahati Refinery township at Noonmati following a complaint that the girl was transported to Guwahati in a vehicle in an �inhuman manner� recently only to be engaged as cheap labour.

Based on the complaint, Child Line, Guwahati in coordination with the labour department and transport department and the local police, located the vehicle and rescued the minor.

Nirmal Deka, coordinator Child Line Guwahati confirmed the development and said that a compliant was lodged via email and the photo evidence along with the vehicle (AS O1 BH 3792) in which the girl was being transported to Guwahati, was also sent. Noonmati police too has confirmed the development.

The child was produced before the child welfare committee and it has also been learnt that the labour department too is planning to register a case.
