JORABAT, Aug 13 - The body of a girl was recovered today by Khanapara-Meghalaya police from a perennial drain in 10th Mile area of Meghalaya.
Some locals suspect that assailants might have attempted to rape the girl before killing her, while a few said that she might have fallen into the drain during a flash flood last evening. However, Khanapara police said investigation is on and the actual cause of death could be ascertained only after post-mortem.
The deceased girl has been identified as Sheela Barman, a resident of 11th Mile near Jorabat who was missing since last evening.
