DHUBRI, Jan 15 - Former Deputy Speaker of State Assembly Giasuddin Ahmed passed away in his residence on Monday due to cardiac arrest. He was 88.
The veteran CPI leader was the MLA of Bilasipara West constituency for four times and was appointed as the Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly from November 13, 1979 to March 19, 1982. He was born on August 19, 1929 at Borkanda area of Bilasipara.
Ahmed, who was also a lawyer, leaves behind his wife, a son and three daughters.
