GUWAHATI, March 24 - It had been a very memorable journey for me. I never thought that such a challenge was waiting in my way, said Nietzshe Steinhaeuser, a German national, who on Wednesday reached Guwahati from Shillong.

On Tuesday, he left for Shillong from Guwahati. But the trip remained incomplete, as, in Shillong, all doors were closed for the foreign tourists as a preventive measure, given the global coronavirus pandemic.

Steinhaeuser started his journey about two weeks ago from New Delhi. Last week, he reached Guwahati from Kolkata. According to him, during his trip, he first went to Darjeeling from New Delhi and then reached Kolkata.

In Kolkata, many tourist places were closed. Interestingly, in Guwahati, I have not faced any problems yet, said the German national who was in India since August 2019 as an employee of the Indo-German Development Corporation in New Delhi.

Talking to The Assam Tribune at the Paltanbazar bus station after went through a screening process carried out by the officials of Assam Health department, Steinhaeuser said, Already the German government directed us to return home.
