UDALGURI, June 17 - The recently- constructed geo-bag embankment near the Golondi Army camp under Udalguri Police Station was swept away by flash floods last night.Talking to this Correspondent, the local villagers alleged that the damage was due to the low quality embankment constructed by the concerned authority and more such flash floods might damage the entire cropland on either side of the river during the ongoing rainy season. On the other hand, the villagers of Angragaon Batabari were apprehensive that their villages and cropland may also be inundated/destroyed by surging waters of the Golondi river. They therefore appealed to the disaster management authority of Udalguri district to take precautionary measues to save their villages and cropland.
