By Correspondent

IMPHAL, July 29 - Normal life was crippled in Manipur for the second day today owing to the 38-hour Statewide general strike called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of Sapam Robinhood, a student, to protest the governments failure to punish the involved police personnel.

The general strike concluded at 7 pm today. The strike hit normal life in the State capital here too with the busy Khwairamband Keithel, the main market in the city wearing a deserted look. Passenger bus and mini bus services suspended their normal services for the day. Other commercial centres including banks and establishments remained closed.

Attendance in government offices were reported as very thin. However, the bandh did not affect air traffic at Imphal International airport. The strike was total in the four valley districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur.

Manipur has been witnessing widespread public movement under Joint Committee on ILPS demanding implementation of the ILP in the State. On Wednesday, strike supporters, mostly women and youths enforced the strike by blocking the bridges and main routes in the city.
