GUWAHATI, Aug 16 - The Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP) has successfully conducted a short-term training programme on analytical instruments on GCMS, LCMS and HPLC recently at its campus laboratories here.
The training programme conducted by senior scientist of GBP Dr Madan Gopal Barthakur and the park�s technical officer Dr Saurav Dey, was attended by 20 participants comprising students from Cotton College, JIST, IIT Guwahati, among others, research scholars, biotechnologists, pharmaceutical officials and PhD scholars from across the State.
The training programme covered both the theoretical and experimental aspects of each of the instruments, said an official press release here.
The training programme was organised with an aim to provide an opportunity to young students, researchers, faculties and industry professionals to have a first-hand experience and exposure on the advanced and sophisticated analytical instruments and their basic functions and applications.
The valedictory function was attended by Prof Anil Kumar Saikia of IIT Guwahati wherein he spoke extensively on the requirement and need to learn the operations of such high-end equipment. The function was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony.
Guwahati Biotech Park, the first of its kind in North East India, is a visionary project launched by the State government to promote entrepreneurship and industrial ventures in biotechnology and allied areas in the north-eastern region.
Towards this initiative, an incubation centre, Guwahati Biotech Park Incubation Centre has been established through a joint initiative of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, the Government of Assam and IIT Guwahati.
