KOKRAJHAR, Nov 30 - Gobinda Basumatary Football Club (GBFC) Gossaigaon defeated NF Railway Sports Club, Maligaon 1-0 to annex the 18th Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup Football Championship title at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association�s (KDSA) playground here last night.
Chuinedu Gnene scored the lone goal in the 70th minute.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary handed over the trophy and cash award of Rs 1 lakh to the champion team. Doneswar Goyari, Executive Member of BTC handed over the runners-up trophy along with cash award of Rs 50,000 to the NF Railway team. IGP BTAD Anurag Agarwal gave away the best player of the match trophy along with a cash award of Rs 5,000 to Chuinedu Gnene of GBFC.
Hemendra Nath Brahma, president of the Assam Football Association, DC and SP of Kokrajhar respectively, among others, also attended the prize distribution ceremony.
Ankushita feted: Earlier BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary felicitated boxer Ankushita Boro at the KDSA playground. Mohilary also handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to Ankushita from BTC government for her brilliant performance in the recently concluded AIBA Youth Women�s World Boxing Championship in Guwahati.
Doneswar Goyary, Executive Member of BTC and incharge of Sports and Youth Welfare also handed over Rs 2 lakh to Ankushita.
Speaking on the occasion, the BTC Chief congratulated the boxer for winning gold and said that her victory brought laurels to the region.
