GAURIPUR, April 23 - Polling in 24-Gauripur LAC passed off peacefully today with over 85% turnout of the electorate. In the morning, voters were seen standing in queues to exercise their franchise. Polling was continuing till 7 pm.
In Gauripur LAC, the polling centre at the Public Library was established as a model polling centre and the voters were provided drinking water and medical facilities. Polling centre No. 245 at Public Library (L) was manned by women officers. One Presiding Officer was reportedly taken into custody by the police for letting voters to vote without proper verification of documents.
In 25-Golokganj LAC, polling was peaceful and percentage stands at 87%. Polling percentage may go up as voters were seen standing to cast their votes even after the fixed time at 5 pm. Polling percentage recorded at Sukhati Khata, Rupshi, Manisha Bazar exceeded 87 % till the filing of this report.
