TURA, Sept 23 - The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) on Monday announced that a public rally to be held in New Delhi in November to press for a separate Garoland state.
GSMC chairman Nikman Marak, in a press release, stated that the rally would be organised on November 28 at Jantar Mantar.
The demand for a separate state has become a longstanding issue which has remained unattended to by successive state and the central governments for long. This movement was spearheaded by our forefathers for generations for the aspirations of the people of Garo Hills and for all tribes in the region. However, it is yet to see the light of the day, said the release.
The committee stated that the rally that will begin at 11 am on that day would be a peaceful one to once again remind the present state and central governments of the demand in a democratic way.
