GUWAHATI, Oct 11 - Former chairman of the DHD(J), Jewel Garlosa, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was arrested here in connection with a murder case registered in 2008 at Haflong.
An elected member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council, Garlosa was in the city in connection with party affairs and had even met Governor PB Acharya along with various other members of the Council.
The arrest of Garlosa has, meanwhile, drawn sharp reactions from the saffron party. BJP spokesperson Bijon Kumar Mahajan said, �This is a clear-cut case of political vendetta and misuse of the State police machinery by the Government in power.�
