JORHAT, Oct 15 - Kalinath Bora, who is the secretary of No. 15 Madhya Nakachari Gaon Panchayat under Deberapar police outpost of Mariani Police Station was arrested on Friday on charges of misappropriation of Government funds.
A police source said that Bora was arrested in connection with a case (280/2019) registered under Sections 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent) and 420 (Cheating) of the IPC at the Mariani Police Station about a month ago following lodging of an FIR by social worker Dalimi Gogoi of Nakachari accusing Bora of mis appropriating sizeable funds while implementating Government schemes in the gaon panchayat.
The source said that police after carrying out an investigation found several financial anomalies reportedly committed by Bora and on Friday arrested him. He was later sent to judicial custody by a local court.
