SILCHAR, Jan 18 - Acting on a tip-off, Cachar Police today seized 1,000 kg of ganja from a lorry, which was going to Uttar Pradesh from here, at Kalainchora under the Katigorah constituency.
According to the police, 86 packets of ganja were recovered from the lorry, which were concealed under bamboo inside the lorry bearing registration number UP-21 AM-2066. The driver, Rajendra Sharma, has been apprehended.
Meanwhile, in another development, Assam Rifles personnel recovered 2.9 kg of ganja, 900 grams of suspected heroin and 900 grams of drug tablets from Gossaipur under the Udharbond constituency.
