Gangs of North East

GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - Gangs of North East, a Hindi movie with artistes from all the Northeastern States, was released on August 18 across the region. The film is also made in Khasi language.

With Sanjive Narain and Kenny Lyngdoh Talang as producers, the film is directed by debutant director Rupak Gogoi.

The movie is about an independent single mother, who happens to be Khasi, and dwells in the humble surroundings of Shillong raising her college-going teenage girl with the right values and faith in God.

Raised without her father, the girl falls in the entrapment of a vicious circle of drugs leading her to the truth about the existence of her father. Parallel to this story, is the story of a music teacher who loses his love to the deadly clutches of the drug nexus.

Gangs of North East, according to the makers of the film, explores a new definition towards the existing North East drug trafficking. The main attraction of the film is its raw combat using weapons like sword and a new style of hand fight which is directed by Pradhan Dewri.

The music has a combination of funk, rock, gospel, romantic songs by Zubeen Garg and other numbers by Benjamin War and Deepak Sarkar.

The star cast consists of model-turned actress Rewati Chetri, newcomer Vivek Bora and actors like Udayan Duarah, Fairypriya Ahmed, Pradhan Dewri, Benjamin War, Chiranjiv Duta, Bipul Rabha, Albert Mawrie, RK Robindro, Arnest Wahlang and Manimala Das.
