NAGAON, April 24 - A video of a recent gruesome incident of gang rape of a girl by five miscreants in a dense forest which went viral in social media, rocked the entire Hojai district today. Doboka police arrested three youngsters as well as detained one close relative of the victim in connection with the incident. The shocking incident came to light when the entire video of that gang rape came to the notice of the victim�s family members.
According to police sources, the nabbed accused have been identified as Golap Hussain, Sajid Ahmed and Dilwar Hussain of Doboka Lalmati village under Doboka police station. On the other hand, the detained relative has been identified as the victim�s brother-in-law Faizal Islam. Police sources said here that the incident took place just a couple of weeks ago when the victim along with her brother-in-law were on their way back home after visiting a relative�s house situated at Pub Jaruni village in Doboka area.
The sources said that on their way back home when the two reached a dense forest, her brother-in-law went away into the forest alone and the gang of miscreants raped her one by one and recorded the same on a camera that they had kept with them.
Subsequently, the entire video of the gruesome incident was uploaded on the social media by someone. When the video went viral, it came to the notice of the parents of the victim and the victim�s father in this regard, immediately on Tuesday lodged an FIR at Doboka Police Station. Doboka police investigated the video in detail and identified all the accused youths in the video following which police arrested the three main accused and also picked up Faizal.
Police however said that although the incident took place a couple of weeks ago, yet neither the victim nor her brother-in-law spoke about it to the their family members. This led the police to suspect the alleged involvement of Faizal in the entire incident. Meanwhile, the arrested trio in their preliminary statements have stated that they caught the girl and her brother-in-law red handed in the forest and after threatening them, they committed the gruesome act.
