Gang of robbers nabbed at Goreswar

GORESWAR, Jan 20 - Four persons namely Mustakin Ali, Rahul Ali, Dildar Rahman from Mukundapur village and Wahedur Rahman from Ouguri village under Goreswar Police Station were arrested recently in connection with an incident of betelnut robbery at Simila Chowk at around 9 pm on January 18.

Sources said that a local betelnut businessman Saifuddin Ahmed brought 33 quintals of betelnuts on a Bolero pick up van No As 01 GC 1640 from Suagpur to Barpeta. When the pick-up van reached Simila, a white colour Alto (As 25 J 8799) stopped pick-up van at Simila under Goreswar PS and forcefully unloaded the betelnuts at Simila. The driver and the businessman were left without the betelnuts with their pick up van at Geruwa crossing by the gang.

Ahmed and the driver came to Goreswar PS and lodged a case. The police then rushed to the spot and and nabbed the four on charges of robbery and also recovered the Alto used in robbery and the whole 33 quintals of betelnut from the house of Wahedur Rahman.
