GUWAHATI, April 2: On the occasion of Rongali Bihu, Kamrup Metro district office of the Handloom and Textile department of Assam is going to organise a Gamocha Mela at the Bastra Bhawan at Ambari here from April 8 to 13.
According to a statement, handmade products of five weavers extension service centres of the department will be available for customers at the Mela, where around 15 cooperative societies of weavers from Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts will also take part.
The Mela will be opened formally at 2 pm on April 8 and it will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm during the period.
�The Mela is being organised to provide our handmade products at reasonable rates and the department aims to sell up to 30,000 gamochas during the period,� the statement said.
