Gajraj Corps, IAF send medical team to Nepal

GUWAHATI, April 26 � In response to Prime Minister�s pledge to provide assistance to Nepal following the massive earthquake on April 25, disaster management mechanisms were activated by Army Gajraj Corps and Air Force Station Tezpur today, a PIB(DW) release stated.

In this joint disaster management operation, a C-17 aircraft from Palam airbase captained by Wg Cdr Abbi reached Air Force Station Tezpur to provide airlift to the medical team of Army to the capital city of Nepal- Kathmandu. The Army medical team which comprises of a surgical team, an orthopaedic team and a trauma management team is headed by Col Alok Sen along with nine medical officers, three JCOs and 51 other personnel. The armed forces have provided other logistics support as well in this humanitarian assistance to a neighbouring country hit by a natural calamity.
