DIPHU, Feb 26 - The Assam Legislative Assembly cleared an amount of Rs 3,42,43,000 for incurring the expenditure for conducting the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election which is due within May 2017.
It may be mentioned here that this election was scheduled within the first week of January but the term of the elected body was extended by the Governor of Assam stating that electoral rolls are not ready and budgetary provision for conducting the election was not made by the Government.
The Assam State Election Commission will hold the election of the autonomous council like the previous occasions.
