Function to commemorate Moinuddin Ahmed

GUWAHATI, April 29 � The Alok Silpi OP Nayar (Moinuddin Ahmed) Smriti Raksha Samiti will hold a function at 1 pm on May 4 at the Guwahati Press Club here to commemorate the contributions of stage lighting expert Moinuddin Ahmed, who was popularly known among his fellow artistes as �OP Nayar.� The programme is named Alokor Din, 2015.

According to a press release issued by Rajib Hari Kaushik, the chief convener of the Smriti Raksha Samiti, senior journalist Naren Hazarika and Sattriya dance exponent Geeta Sarma will be felicitated for their contributions to their respective fields of work in the function which will be presided over by noted lyricist Kirti Kamal Bhuyan.

It may be mentioned here that Moinuddin Ahmed succumbed to the injuries he received in a road accident in the city on May 5, 2008. The Smriti Raksha Samiti has been holding the commemoration programme in his honour since last year.
