Full refund for tickets

GUWAHATI, March 28 - In view of cancellation of all passenger trains and all passenger ticketing up to April 14 on account of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Indian Railways has decided to give full refund for all tickets for the journey period from March 21 to April 14.

For counter booked Passenger Reservation System (PRS) tickets which were cancelled prior to March 27, the Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) has to be filed by the passenger with journey details by filling a form to Chief Commercial Manager or CCM (Claims) or the Chief Claims Officer (CCO) of any zonal railways headquarters up to the period of June 21 for availing balance refund amount.

Railways shall provide a utility through which the passenger can avail refund of balance amount so deducted during cancellation of such tickets.

For PRB tickets cancelled after March 27 the full refund shall be payable in respect of all such cancellation.

With regard to e-tickets, in case of those cancelled prior to March 27 the balance refund amount shall be credited to the account of the passenger from which ticket was booked. The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) shall prepare a utility for providing the balance refund amount.

For e-tickets cancelled after March 27 the full refund shall be payable in respect of all such cancellations for which provisions have already been made.
