Full-grown leopard rescued, shifted to Zoo

GUWAHATI, Sept 13 - A leopard that strayed into a residential area at Pandu Temple Ghat in the wee hours today, was tranquillised and shifted to the Assam State Zoo later today.

A forest official said that a joint team of forest and veterinarians rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the presence of the leopard inside a local�s residence, and tranquillised the animal without any fuss.

�It is a full-grown male leopard and had no injury mark. The team reached the zoo with the tranquillised animal around 11-30,� the official added.

The official said that the area is frequented by leopards during night hours, with several local people claiming to have seen the animals. Last year also, a leopard was captured in the area.
