Full-fledged train services from Agartala

AGARTALA, May 6 - The NF Railway has decided to run a passenger special train on the newly converted BG tracks between Agartala to Silchar till May 20 on regular basis.

The passenger special train will start from Silchar station at 9 am daily and arrive here at 6.15 pm the sameday beginning from Saturday.

The train will leave from Agartala station at 9 am daily with effect from May 7 and arrive Silchar station at 6.15 pm the sameday.

Two MPs of the State, Jitendra Choudhury and Sankar Prasad Datta yesterday met Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu at his office in New Delhi and placed several demands.

The passenger train service from Agartala station is likely to be commenced formally any day after May 20. The announcement was made by the Minister of Railways during the visit of the MPs.

Besides, the NFR has reportedly planned to run superfast train in Agartala-Delhi, Agartala-Kolkata and Intercity Express in Agartala-Silchar routes.

Demands of the two MPs included introduction of Rajdhani Express from Agartala on daily basis, establishment of railway division and recruitment centre in Agartala, speedy construction of tracks upto Sabroom and speedy commencement of Agartala-Akhaura rail project.

The Minister for Railways said that the Ministry would make all possible efforts to meet the demands.
