Full-fledged Bodoland University soon

KOKRAJHAR, July 31 � State Education, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma visited Kokrajhar on Friday and held a meeting with the departmental heads and officials on the issues and problems of education and health of the BTC region at the BTC secretariat.

Later, talking to media persons, Dr Sharma said that the State Government is keen on solving the educational problems of BTC as early as possible and efforts are presently on to resolve the problems pertaining to higher education in BTC area.

He further said that an amount of Rs 7 crore would be released soon for infrastructure development of Bodoland University and appointment in vacant posts would be filled up soon so that Bodoland University can start in full suing from this academic session.

At the same time, Dr Sharma informed that efforts are under way to increase the number of seats in Bineswar Brahma Engineering College in Kokrajhar and the construction work of BB Engineering College will start by the end of this year, for which a requisite amount has already been sanctioned.

Dr Sharma further said that the teachers of venture schools in BTC who fulfil the norms would be provincialised soon.

State Transport Minister Chandan Brahma, chief Hagrama Mahilary, Promila Rani Brahma, ex-Agriculture Minister, Biswajit Daimary, MP (RS) all EM�s of BTC, among others, attended the meeting.
