DIPHU, Jan 12 - The National Food Security Act (NFSA) was officially implemented in Karbi Anglong on Sunday.
The NFSC was inaugurated in Howraghat Legislative Assembly constituency by Premala Beypi, EM, KAAC, at Howraghat, Phulani, Tarabasa and Kangki Basti Large Area Multi Purpose Society (LAMPS). Chandra Tamang, MAC, KAAC, Deori Lekthe, chairman, Ashok Hasnu, vice-chairman, Sarjeng Engti, Ratan Saha ward commissioners of Howraghat HTC, Amardip Ronghang senior congress leader and secretaries and chairmen of other LAMSPS under Howraghat LA constituency were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, an open meeting was also held under the presidentship of Dhaniram Kro, chairman, Howraghat LAMPS. Objective of the meeting was explained by Leon Teron, secretary of Howraghat LAMPS.
While addressing the gathering, Premala Beypi said that the Congress Government in the State is doing round-the-clock development for the welfare of people. He said that Congress government is giving maximum importance for women empowerment.
Beypi added that the BJP Government was trying to stop several schemes designed during the Congress government for the betterment of the society. However, under the smooth initiative of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, the schemes were managed to carry on in Assaam, he said. Meanwhile, Beypi sought support from the public in the upcoming legislative elections. The NFSA was also inaugurated by Beypi at Phulani, Tarabasa and Kangki Basti, LAMPS, respectively.
