GANGTOK, May 21 (PTI) - Fresh landslides were reported at Yaksha and near Lachen in Sikkim due to incessant rains.
While boulders along the Chungthang-Lachung road were removed yesterday, fresh landslides took place at two spots - at Yaksha, 10 km from Lachung to Yumthang, and between Lachen-Gurudongmar lake route on the same day.
Tourists stranded on both sides have been evacuated, Travel Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS) president Paljor Lachungpa said, adding, rescue operations are on.
"There is no problem for the tourists who are either staying in the hill towns of Chungthang, Mangan, Lachung and Lachen or are being transported by service vehicles on both sides of the blocked area," Lachungpa said.
