Freedom fighter passes away

TINSUKIA, June 15 - Lila Bora, a freedom fighter of Tinsukia, died in a private nursing home at Dibrugarh on Wednesday morning. He was 96.

A President�s medal winner, Bora was a resident of the Gelapukhuri area of the town.

He felt uneasy while attending a meeting at Chabua on Thursday and was immediately shifted to a nursing home at Dibrugarh. The public meeting was also attended by the newly elected MLA of Chabua constituency, Binod Hazarika.

Bora was born at Charing in Sivasagar district in 1921. He came to Tinsukia and settled here in the year 1960.

Bora leaves behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives.
