NALBARI, Oct 10 - Rich tributes were paid to freedom fighter Kanak Chandra Barma on his 28th death anniversary at a function held at the Nalbari Natya Mandir on Wednesday.
The meeting was inaugurated by Dr Paramananda Rajbangshi, president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha. In his speech, Dr Rajbangshi said the sacrifices of the freedom fighters during the country�s freedom movement should not be forgotten.
Dr Rajbangshi said that the book Muktijudha Kanak Chandra Barmar Rasanawali published on the occasion of his death anniversary will spread his ideologies among the new generation.
The book was released by Dr Hitesh Deka, vice chancellor of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University. In his speech, Dr Deka said a book is considered the heart of a society and it carries the memories of the society from generation to generation.
Another book Recalling My Voyage written by Nripal Barma, elder son of Kanak Chandra Barma, was released by Dr Dipak Kumar Sarma, vice chancellor of Kumar Bhaskar Barma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University.
The meeting presided over by Sahityacharya Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya was also addressed by Dr Joyshree Goswami Mahanta, MLA Ashok Sarma, former MP Kumar Dipak Das, Dilip Patgiri and Balendra Mohan Kalita among others.
