Free vaccination camp for pets

GUWAHATI, March 3 - A free vaccination-cum-treatment camp for pets and stray dogs was organised by Jorhat�based NGO Puhor on March 1 in collaboration with Vets for Pets under the supervision of Dr Apurba Buragohain, an e-mail stated.

More than 110 dogs, both pets and strays, were vaccinated with anti-rabies vaccines, free deworming tablets and food too were distributed.

The camp was attended by senior veterinarians Dr CK Sinha and Dr Hemanta Baruah, ward commissioners Jayanta Baruah of Ward No. 10 and Fatema Begum of Ward No. 5, besides JMB Chairman Paban Bordoloi, former ward commissioner Devojyoti Srutikar and former Jorhat Municipal Board Chairman Prasanta Bora.

The activities of NGO Puhor include feeding of stray dogs, treatment of sick canines, rescuing abondened dogs, adopting stray puppies and so on.

Puhor has resolved to protect all animals in future by building a permanent shelter.
