Fraud collects Rs 3 crore from job hopefuls

MANGALDAI, Sept 23 - Just after the tragic end of the lives of four persons of a family originally of Burha village in Darrang district at a hotel in Guwahati on September 21 which has rocked the entire State, a large number of youths on Thursday �gheraoed� the residence of one Kuhi Ram Deka � a casual employee of the Water Resource Department here, demanding refund of their money collected by him on false promises of providing government jobs.

Kuhi Ram Deka, allegedly in connivance with one SULFA cadre Krishna Gogoi of Lakhimpur district allegedly collected a massive amount to the tune of more than three crore rupees from 300 youths with the false assurance to provide the youth employment in Government departments like the Water Resource department. On receipt of the information, a team from Mangaldai Police Station rushed to his residence near Mangaldai College at Bhebarghat and conducted search operation in his four-storied building decorated with costly materials. However, Kuhi Ram Deka � a fixed pay employee earning Rs 7000 per month as salary managed to make good his escape. Meanwhile, a group of aggrieved youths have lodged a complaint at Mangaldai Police Station in this connection.
