�Framework pact must lead to settlement�

DIMAPUR, Aug 25 - The Naga People�s Consultative Meeting on Indo-Naga political talks held today affirmed that the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN(IM) on August 3, must lead to an acceptable and honourable settlement of the Indo-Naga issue.

After focused interaction with the collective leadership of the NSCN(IM) and negotiators of the Naga people, organisations and Naga people from across Naga-inhabited areas, who came together at the meeting held at Niathu Resort, Chumukedima, 13 kms from Dimapur, expressed deep appreciation and acknowledgement to the Government of India and the NSCN(IM) for signing the Framework Agreement.

They also reiterated and upheld the resolutions of the previous Naga People�s Consultative Meetings. �We, the Naga people, in the spirit of forgiveness and oneness, will ceaselessly strive and work for restoration of unity,� they affirmed.

Meanwhile, the NSCN(IM) on the successful completion of the 8th Naga People�s Consultative Meeting held today and the spirited response of the Naga people to it, has expressed sincere gratitude and satisfaction to all the partakers as well as the well-wishers from far and wide across �Nagalim�.

�We look forward to more of such significant consultation in the days to come,� a release issued by the MIP of the outfit after the meeting stated.

�At the end, it is because of our concerted effort that together we have taken a historic decision today for the Nagas. With this confidence and affirmation we had established, the NSCN will continue to work out with the Government of India what is best for the Naga people,� the outfit added.
