DIPHU, Dec 13 � Four women of Arjun Tola, Sankar Sangha primary unit of Hagolata village under Bakalia police station, are preparing to walk 500 km from Bakalia to Mukum of Tinsukia district to take part in the 86th general conference of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha.
The four women namely Mamoni Saikia, Parul Saikia, Purnima Gogoi and Rita Moni Gogoi of Bakalia, Karbi Anglong will start their 500-km journey on foot from January 26, 2014 from Bakalia and their route will traverse through Nagaon, Koliabor, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Makum to participate in the conference, the four women revealed to mediapersons at Bakalia recently.
They further revealed that they will also attempt to register their names in the India Book of Records and Limca Book of Records respectively. Abhijit Bora, observer of Assam has already been contacted. Besides, they have also received permission from the district administration for the said journey, the women added.
Blood donation camp: A blood donation camp was organised by the 155th Bn of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in association with the Dimapur Civil Hospital at C-155 Bn CPRF near Karbi Anglong and Nagaland border recently.
Samir Kumar Srivastav, commanding officer, UR Rameshwaram, deputy commanding officer, Naresh Prasad Yadav, assistant commanding officer, Zahid Khan, 2nd in charge, Dr N Nawlak, and many other dignitaries were present.
Altogether 25 CRPF personnel including officers donated blood. SK Srivastav said that, �Donating of blood is not only an act of charity but it also gives new life�. He said that the programme aimed to bridge the relationship between the common people and CRPF. He further said that such type of programmes will continue in the near future also.
CPI(ML) candidate: The Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist), Hills Party Committee has nominated Khorsing Singnar as CPI (ML) candidate for the forthcoming Socheng Dhenta constituency MAC bypoll slated to be held on December 23. This was informed by Robi Kumar Phangcho, secretary, Hills Party Committee recently.
