Four projects launched in Tripura

AGARTALA, March 2 - In a major thrust to development, four ambitious projects were launched in Tripura today. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb jointly dedicated the Sonamura Gas Collecting Station of the ONGC Tripura Asset to the nation.

They also launched the first PNG connection in West Tripura district, laid the foundation stone of the first CNG station in Gomati district, and also that of the National Skill Training Institute for Women through remote control on the occasion.

A number of dignitaries, including ONGC CMD Shashi Shanker, Director (Onshore) SK Moitra, ED Asset Manager of ONGC Tripura Asset GK Singha Roy, attended the launching programme.

The Sonamura Gas Collecting Station is fully automated and controlled with sophisticated technology. It has a designed capacity of 8 lakh metric standard cubic metres per day and fulfils the entire demand of natural gas of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited at Monarchok.

The first piped natural gas (PNG) connection in West Tripura district, installed by the TNGCL at the State guesthouse � Sonar Tori � will cater to the needs of the Governor�s House, military station and defence establishments, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, ILS Hospital, tea gardens at Durgabarai and the adjoining areas of Shalbagan, Ushabazar and Barjala.

On the other hand, the first CNG station in Gomati district will supply CNG to the booster stations at Sonamura, Melaghar, Amarpur, Belonia, Santirbazaar and Manu. This will also create a CNG green corridor among South Tripura, Gomati, Sepahijala and West Tripura districts.
